Beaujolais Bistro

Beaujolais Bistro is another signature design build project for Tutto Ferro. For this project, we partnered with general contractor WCC Design Build and owner/head chef Bill Gilbert to design and spec the full finish and fixtures package for the interior public space of the restaurant. Subtle details and solid craftsmanship create a cozy and inviting space that calls to mind a classic French bistro while maintaining a decidedly contemporary edge. Strategically using a combination of custom work and off the shelf materials, Tutto Ferro created a unique and inviting space within the client’s budget and schedule. The end result is a symbiotic experience of food and setting that creates an atmosphere that is truly unique and inviting.

For years, this building stood quietly in an overlooked corner of town, once serving as a halfway house before its transformation into the vibrant space it is today. Entrusting the identity of his restaurant to Tutto Ferro, head chef Bill Gilbert gave Paolo free rein to realize the hidden potential of this 80-year-old structure. The result is a modern space with a vintage soul—a textbook example of blending contemporary design with time-honored materials. Rough-sawn lumber, zinc, copper, heavily lacquered wood, and period-correct hand-laid tile come together to honor the building’s history while creating an inviting, timeless setting for an exceptional French bistro.

Beaujolais was one of our favorite projects for 2014 because it afforded us the opportunity to work in a number of different materials that we excel in, whether the polished concrete bar top, or the water jet cut copper-plated coffee tables. The installations in this restaurant carry a quality and permanence that we seek to create in all our work.
